Purdie pushes case for Coast infrastructure funding

Ninderry MP Dan Purdie has put pressure on the State Government in Parliament this week to deliver important infrastructure projects for the region ahead of the upcoming State Budget.

Mr Purdie said with the Federal Government committing hundreds of millions of dollars to road and rail infrastructure on the Sunshine Coast, local residents deserved to know if the State Government will fund their share, to ensure these projects were delivered. .

“I’ve asked the Minister for Main Roads and Transport, Mark Bailey if the Government has allocated money in the Budget to fund these vital projects, which are game-changers for our region,” Mr Purdie said.

“The major upgrades to the Bruce Highway and the duplication of the north coast rail line, which were announced in the Federal Budget, will help ease the significant congestion issues facing Sunshine Coast motorists on a daily basis, but only if the State Labor Government commits to funding their share,” Mr Purdie said.

Mr Purdie said he also sought assurances that the funding for the new Coolum Police Station would be allocated in the Budget.

“Coolum Police have been working out of a demountable for the past 13 years, and I intend to hold the Government to their commitment to build the new permanent premise by 2020,” Mr Purdie said
