Coolum Mens Shed issues funding challenge

Coolum Mens Shed have issued a challenge to Mens Sheds across the Coast, calling on them to match its $1,000 donation to drought stricken farmers in the State’s west.

Member for Ninderry and honorary member of the Coolum Mens Shed, Dan Purdie, accepted the $1000 cheque, which will be used to purchase IGA vouchers that can be redeemed at locally owned IGA stores in drought affected communities as part of the local Help our Qld Farmers appeal.

“It is great to see our local community rallying together for such a vital cause, and I congratulate the Coolum Mens Shed for their generous support, and their initiative in calling on other Mens Sheds to join the cause,” Mr Purdie said.

Mr Purdie said it was heartening to see such a strong outpouring of support for the plight of the state’s drought-stricken farmers.

“I’ve been overwhelmed by the number of individuals and businesses who stepped up to support the campaign initiated by local business Kings Removals, who are taking two trucks loaded with donations out to Charleville early next month.”

Coolum Mens Shed Secretary Frank Bates said the group wanted to make a contribution to the farmers who were doing it so tough.

We’re proud to be able to make a contribution to such a worthy cause, and we are looking forward to encouraging other Mens Sheds to take up the challenge,” Mr Bates said.

We would also like to thank Coolum Beach Hotel and Budd’s Butchers for their support of our fundraising efforts. Without their help, we wouldn’t have been able to raise as much money.”
