Colts score with Gambling grant

Win or lose, Coolum Colts will finish their season on a bright note, after receiving a $11,500 grant through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund for a new shed.

Ninderry MP Dan Purdie said the funding was great news for a popular grassroots sports club.

“With their season coming to an end, this grant is welcome news for the Club, who will be able to build their new shed in during the off-season, in time for next year’s competition,” Mr Purdie said.

This year alone, not-for-profit groups across the electorate have shared in more than $145,000 in funding through the Gambling Fund, Mr Purdie said.

“It would be great to see more clubs across the electorate benefit from this grants program, which distributes around $54million across the state every year.”

“I strongly encourage any local groups who are looking for funding support to consider applying for the next round of the Gambling Fund, which closes at the end of this month.”

Mr Purdie said support was available to those groups who find the grant application process difficult, with Council regularly hosting Grant Workshops across the Coast, including one in Coolum this Friday, 10 August.

The current round (Round 98) of funding closes on 31 August, as does the special Commemorative Round, which offers grants between $35,000 and $250,000 for major capital works, equipment, event or transportation requirements.
