All aboard for new Bli Bli school bus service

The daily school commute is set to get easier for dozens of families following months of lobbying to secure a new school bus service for the rapidly growing Bli Bli community.

In welcoming the news, Ninderry MP Dan Purdie thanked Good Samaritan Catholic College Principal Greg Myers, along with Bli Bli State School Principal Gerard Quinn, for initially flagging the need for a dedicated service for the area.

“Given the increase in the local population, and the official opening of the Good Samaritan Catholic College in Parklakes earlier this year, there was a real need for a school route to accommodate the rapidly growing community,” Mr Purdie said.

Mr Purdie said he expected families would welcome the news, which will not only help alleviate congestion during peak periods, but better serve the needs of the hundreds of families moving to the region.

“I’m delighted that we’ve been able to work closely together with the new Catholic school, Bli Bli State School, Buslink and Translink (TMR) to deliver a positive outcome for all.”

The new school bus service is expected to commence on Monday 9 September, with full details of the new route and fare information to be released in coming weeks.
