Residents safety fears allayed with speed limit win

Residents living on a narrow winding section of Yandina Bli Bli Road have had their safety concerns addressed after TMR responded to calls to reduce the speed limit.

Ninderry MP Dan Purdie said he had met with a group of residents earlier this year who feared they would become a victim of speeding traffic when accessing their own driveways.

“After initially meeting with residents and then TMR representatives on site, I am pleased TMR have reviewed the speed limit in these dangerous and narrow sections of Yandina Bli Bli Road, and reduced them accordingly,” Mr Purdie said.

The 80km speed limit will be reduced to 70km/hr on the section of road from Sheanans Road intersection to just east of the Rocky Creek Forest Road intersection, and from just west of the Pearce Drive intersection to Parkyn Hill Place.

Given the growth of the local population and the increased traffic on the Yandina Bli Bli road, locals were rightly concerned by the blind spots along the narrow winding sections of the road, Mr Purdie said.

“I am pleased we’ve been able to work together with TMR to get the speed reduced in these sections of the road, which will hopefully improve the safety for all motorists.”

The work has been scheduled to be carried out next week (Monday 15 December), weather permitting.
