Have your say on cyberbulling at coast forum

Local residents are being encouraged to have their say on cyberbulling with a public forum being planned for the Sunshine Coast on Monday 21 May.

Member for Ninderry Dan Purdie MP said the free forum, to be held at Kawana, was one of 12 being held across the state by the Queensland Anti-Cyberbullying Taskforce.

“Ideas gathered at the consultation event will inform the work of the Queensland Anti-Cyberbulling Taskforce (the Taskforce),” Mr Purdie said.

Mr Purdie said he encouraged locals to come along to the forum to share ideas on how to prevent or reduce cyberbulling of young people, and support those affected by the cyberbulling of young people.

The Taskforce is currently travelling the state, engaging with children, parents, schools, community members and health and education experts to identify community-driven strategies to reduce cyberbullying.

Chaired by author and commentator Madonna King, the Taskforce comprises people with a wide range of knowledge and experience. Bipartisan in its approach, it includes a Member of Parliament from the Government and Opposition.

The Taskforce is also inviting written submissions, which can be made through the website at www.qld.gov.au/cyberbullyingtaskforce or by email to [email protected].  Submissions close 1 June, 2018.

Additional details about the public forum will be made available on the website in coming weeks. Further details about the role of the Taskforce can also be found on the website.
