It may have taken more than a decade, but the brand new, state of the art $2.7million Coolum Police Station has today been officially opened in what Ninderry MP Dan Purdie is calling a win for the local community.
Mr Purdie said he had made the new station one of his top local priorities when he was elected, knowing that Coolum police had spent more than a decade working out of a donga.
“In that time, we’ve also seen the population of the Coolum region explode, as well as a significant increase in crime,” Mr Purdie said.
“Meanwhile, our hard working police have been forced to work in sub-standard facilities while trying to serve the growing community.”
Mr Purdie said the new facility boasts state of the art technology and all the resources police needed to do their job.
“I am grateful for the community’s support over the past three years to help secure the funding for this new station.
“Not only will the police officers benefit from this long-overdue investment, its also a great win for our local community.”
