• Crisafulli Government delivers a new $400,000 medium attack appliance to boost frontline capability on the Sunshine Coast.  

• The appliance will enhance local response, mitigation work and community preparedness across Bli Bli and the wider region.  

• The upgraded vehicle includes modern crew‑protection technology to strengthen safety for Rural Fire Service volunteers.  

The Crisafulli Government has delivered a boost to the Sunshine Coast’s emergency response with the delivery of a state-of-the-art fire truck.  

Bli Bli and District Rural Fire Brigade has been handed the keys to an Isuzu dual-cab medium attack vehicle, equipped with numerous advanced crew protection measures.  

After a decade of decline under Labor, our Rural Fire Volunteers struggled to get access to the appliances they needed to fight fire and protect their safety.  

The Crisafulli Government has increased Rural Fire Appliances delivered by over 100%. 

The new appliance is operational and ready to respond to incidents and conduct mitigation activities locally and more broadly across the Sunshine Coast and Hinterland region.  

Minister for Fire, Disaster Recovery and Volunteers Ann Leahy said this was a strong demonstration of the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to delivering for Queensland’s volunteer firefighters.  

“Our Rural Fire Service Queensland volunteers are the backbone of community safety during bushfire emergencies and this investment highlights our government’s dedication to backing them with the equipment they need,” Minister Leahy said. 

“Labor left our volunteer firefighters with aging equipment, but the Crisafulli Government will always put our hardworking firefighters and their communities first.” 

Minister for Police and Emergency Services and Member for Ninderry Dan Purdie said this commitment shows the Crisafulli Government’s strong support for regional communities. 

“Our Rural Firefighters go above and beyond for this community, and this new appliance gives them the modern, reliable equipment they need to do their job with confidence and capability,” Minister Purdie said. 

RFSQ South Eastern Region Deputy Chief Officer John Welke acknowledged the importance of the new appliance in enabling the Bli Bli and District Rural Fire Brigade to continue its vital work in the community. 

“The Bli Bli and District Rural Fire Brigade has a proud history of serving its community, and this new appliance will ensure they can continue to provide essential support when it is needed most,” he said.  

“The vehicle’s advanced capabilities will ensure the brigade can continue to deliver exceptional service to the people of Bli Bli and surrounding areas.” 

Minister for Police and Emergency Services Dan Purdie represented Minister for Fire Ann Leahy at the Appliance Handover Ceremony on Friday 06 February 2026 at the Bli Bli and District Rural Fire Brigade.
