Coolum launch pad for cool schools

Air conditioning for state schools and small business innovation was on the agenda when the Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington visited Coolum this week.

Member for Ninderry Dan Purdie, who hosted the visit, said he was proud to showcase the local area to the LNP leader, particularly high achieving local schools such as Coolum State High.

“I was delighted to have the Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington in Coolum to talk about the LNP’s plans to install air-conditioning to every state school in the region,” Mr Purdie said.

“In our climate, air-conditioning is not a luxury, it is a basic resource that every student and hard-working teacher in our state schools deserve.

“It’s ludicrous to think we can expect to deliver quality educational outcomes when our schools are not properly equipped with the necessities.”

Mr Purdie said the visit also included tours of two businesses who are leading the way in their respective industries.

Freeze Dry Industries operates a state of the art production facility in Yandina, where leading technology is being used to export freeze dried food to the world.

Down the road, BFX Furniture, established here on the coast nearly 40 years ago, is a leading business, office and school manufacturer in the country.

“It’s great to see such innovation and success right here in our own back yard, and I know Deb was impressed with the high standards being set by small business on the Coast.”
